On the morning of March 30, the explanation conference of 2019 International Competition of Autonomous Walking Intelligent Robots was successfully held at the Center for Advanced Innovation in Chip Technology (Heqing Building) of Tsinghua University in Beijing. Experts and leaders from 9 universities and research institutes in Beijing, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing University of Technology and Semiconductor Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the conference.

During the conference, Zhang Ying, deputy director of Beijing Institute of Electronics and deputy director of Beijing Institute of Electronic Information, introduced the competition. This competition is the first autonomous intelligent robot competition worldwide and also the most closely integrated robot competition with artificial intelligence algorithm. Wang Zhihua, deputy director of Beijing Institute Electronics and professor of Microelectronics Research Institute of Tsinghua University, introduced the establishment of the competition. The purpose and significance of the competition is to make it a world top competition in the field of autonomous intelligent robots, and to promote the leap-forward development of teaching, scientific research and industry in this field in China. Finally, the technical director of the competition, Professor Zhang Chun, deputy researcher of the Institute of Microelectronics, Tsinghua University, given a detailed instruction about the events, rules, online training and online selection of the competition.

In the following communication, Professor Luo Qingsheng of Beijing University of Technology analyzed the current domestic and international robot competition, and agreed with the holding of the competition. The participating teachers also expressed their support for the competition, and wished that the 2019 International Competition of Autonomous Walking Intelligent Robots would become an international event with international influence and appeal.
