 I. Company Introduction

GigaDevice GD32 MCU are leading high-performance general-purpose microcontrollers in China.  They are the largest Arm® MCU family in China and the first to launch Arm® Cortex®-M3, Cortex®-M4, Cortex®-M23, Cortex®-M33, and Cortex®-M7 core general MCU product series globally. It is also the first to launch RISC-V general 32-bit MCU product series worldwide. They have grown into the mainstream choice in China's 32-bit general MCU market, with cumulative shipments exceeding 800 million units, over 20,000 customers, nearly 400 products across 28 series, and the broadest application coverage among domestic MCUs in China.  GigaDevice is also among the first batch of Arm® University Program (AUP) partners in China and an Arm® mbedTM IoT ecosystem partner. GD32 aims to build a "MCU supermarket" to provide users with the most comprehensive system-level products and solution support, build intelligent development platforms, and improve the product application ecosystem. II. Competition Requirements

Theme: Open design of robot modules based on GigaDevice GD32 MCU

Description: Develop more and smarter functional modules for autonomous robots

Teams should use GigaDevice's GD32 series Arm® Cortex®-M3, Cortex®-M4, Cortex®-M23, Cortex®-M33, Cortex®-M7, and RISC-V 32-bit general MCUs to develop intelligent electronic systems. Modifications of existing robots are required in innovative ways. The core goal is expanding robot capabilities, improving autonomy and task completion. Modules should be open designs based on GigaDevice GD32 MCUs. Teams should independently complete system design, hardware platform building, software coding, function implementation and demos using GigaDevice's GD32 series 32-bit general MCUs.

Competitors can take various approaches to develop robot modules, including but not limited to:

(1) Adding sensors to improve environmental perception, e.g. infrared, ultrasonic, radar sensors for detecting distance, shape, speed, etc.

(2) Adding balancing systems for stability on complex terrains using gyroscopes, accelerometers, motors, servos, etc.

(3) Adding voice control modules using microphones, speakers, speech recognition algorithms, etc.

(4) Designing autonomous, intelligent charging solutions using wireless charging, communication modules, etc.

(5) Embedding AI/ML modules using low power MCUs for edge computing and neural networks to improve obstacle detection and task success rate.

Note: Directly controlling robots via physical buttons is prohibited.
